Why a big screen

Off-road route planner

Most drives are decided the night before, on a sofa, with a phone held at arm’s length. That works for a short track you already know. It is a poor way to plan a Liwa crossing, a long Sweihan loop or a mountain route with a fuel stop in the middle.

The Navra web planner gives the same map a proper desk: a wide canvas, a mouse for precise points, keyboard shortcuts and room for the route, the elevation profile and your waypoint list at the same time. It runs in any modern desktop browser and uses the same account as the phone app, so there is nothing to install and nothing to transfer by cable.

It is a planning tool, not a navigation tool. You prepare on the computer and you drive with the phone.

What you get

Everything the route needs, in one workspace

01

Draw it your way

Click to lay points along a track or a dune line, drag a point to nudge it, undo a bad click. Press R to start drawing and Esc to finish. The distance updates as you go.

02

Follow roads when you want them

Off-road legs stay as the line you drew. For the tarmac sections to and from the sand, switch a leg to follow roads and the planner snaps it to the road network for you.

03

Elevation and distance

See the climb and descent along the whole route, so a ridge, a long soft section or a mountain pass is no surprise on the day.

04

Waypoints with names

Drop a waypoint for the meeting point, a fuel stop, a photo spot or an exit. Name each one so the convoy knows what it is looking at.

05

Measure and go to

Measure a distance in a straight line, or jump straight to a place or a coordinate you were sent in a message.

06

Save, then send to the phone

Save the route to your library. It is attached to your Navra account, so it appears in the app on your phone without a file transfer.

Step by step

From blank map to a route on your phone

01

Open the web app and sign in with your Navra account, or create one with your email. The same login works on the phone.

02

Find the area

Search a place, or use go to with a coordinate. Switch the map layer to terrain or satellite to read the ground before you draw on it.

03

Draw the line

Start drawing and click along the route. Use follow roads for the approach and the way home, and keep the sand sections as hand drawn lines.

04

Add waypoints

Mark the meeting point, fuel, exits and any place you want the group to stop. Give each a clear name.

05

Check the profile

Read the distance and the elevation. Adjust the line if a section is longer or steeper than the convoy wants.

06

Save and open on the phone

Save the route. Open Navra on your phone while you have signal and it is there in your library, ready to attach to a trip.

Phone or computer

When to use the phone instead

Use the web planner for anything you want to think about: a new route, a long day, a route with several people’s opinions attached. Use the phone for everything that happens at the trailhead and after: recording a track, live navigation, joining a convoy and anything that needs your GPS position.

The computer never follows you along the route, and it does not need to. Finish the plan on the big screen, then rely on the phone with the offline map downloaded. Offline map downloads are a Navra Pro feature, so check the app for current plans.

Straight answers

Frequently asked questions

Is the Navra route planner free to use?

The web app opens with the same Navra account as the phone app. Some advanced tools, such as offline map downloads, follow the Navra Pro plan. Current options are shown in the app.

Does the web planner work offline in the desert?

No. It is a browser tool for planning at home or in the office. For the drive itself, use the phone app with the offline map downloaded before you leave coverage.

How does the route get to my phone?

Routes you save are stored against your Navra account. Sign in to the app on your phone with the same account and the route appears in your library. No cable or file transfer is needed.

Can I plan a route that mixes roads and desert tracks?

Yes. Draw the off-road sections by hand and switch the road sections to follow roads. Each leg can behave differently inside one route.

Can I plan on a phone browser?

The planner is built for a large screen with a mouse. On a phone, use the Navra app itself, which has its own route drawing tools.

Plan it tonight. Drive it tomorrow.

Open the planner in your browser, sign in with your Navra account and have the route in your pocket before you leave home.
